Optical boxes: seeing the world through a hole
In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, tools were acquired so that the hand of man could copy the images captured by the camera obscura. At the same time, optical boxes, or Mondo Nuovo, allowed observers to get to know faraway cities and places, without leaving home, via these images seen through the viewing hole.
