Accessibility

The Cinema Museum is an adapted facility, but the following aspects must be taken into account:

Physical accessibility

  • Parking for people with reduced mobility near the Museum
    • Santa Clara Street, 9: 1 parking space
    • Sèquia Street, 24: 1 parking space
    • Catalunya Square: 4 parking space
    • Sant Francesc Av., 13: 1 parking space
    • Sant Francesc Av., 29: 1 parking space
  • The main entrance to the Museum on Carrer de la Sèquia, nº 1, has a step of about 5 cm.
  • The access streets to the entrance of the Museum::
    • èquia Street: wide sidewalks, restricted vehicle traffic, no slope and lowered fords.
    • Santa Susanna Square: central dirt pavement, surrounding spaces with wide sidewalks with restricted circulation, no slope.
    • de l’Obra Street and del Perill Street: cobblestone pavement, slight slope.
  • Nearby city bus stops:
    • Santa Clara street, 13: L12
    • Sant Francesc Av., 4: L6, L7 and L11.
    • Jaume I Av., 35: L1, L2, L5, L6 and L11.
  • Nearby taxi ranks: (possibility that the taxi can stop momentarily in front of the museum to load and unload passengers.):
    • Ramon Folch Avenue (in front of the Post Office building)
    • Sant Francesc Avenue
  • Circulation within the museum
    • Public service desk in the lobby of the museum not adapted, but timely assistance from the museum staff is available at all times.
    • The museum has two elevators for public use, of medium size, for each of the floors of the building.
    • All public spaces are accessible for people with reduced mobility: permanent exhibition rooms, temporary exhibition room, library, spaces for educational workshops, lobby and Museum shop.
    • Along the route of the permanent exhibition there are chairs or benches for visitors to rest.
    • The visit can be easily followed, objects exposed at an appropriate height.
  • Accessible toilets o There is an open and accessible mixed toilet on the ground floor, with a turning space of less than 150 cm.

Visual accessibility

  • Elevators: the elevator buttons have visual numbering, in Braille and in high relief.
  • Lighting: in the permanent exhibition there are some spaces with poor lighting due to museographic needs or preventive conservation: camera obscura, magic lantern slides and optical views.
  • Objects accessible to Touch:Along the route of the permanent exhibition there are reproductions of some of the devices on display that can be manipulated by the visitors. Possibility of guided tactile visits with prior reservation. Pre-booking is required at least two weeks in advance. Ask for information at educacio@museudelcinema.cat
  • Audio guide: Audio guide (without audio description) in Catalan, Spanish, English and French. Download it here.
  • Pigalle dogs: Guide dogs for the blind are allowed inside the museum.

Accessibility in communication

  • Written and graphic signage:
    • The route through the permanent exhibition is supported by a signaling system that marks the direction of the route.
    • There are a large number of explanatory texts along the route of the permanent exhibition.
  • Easy reading itinerary: A summary and adaptation of the Museum's room texts are in an easy-to-read format.

Auditory accessibility

  • Very visual tour of the permanent exhibition with a large number of explanatory texts.
  • Possibility of adapted guided tours (with the group's own translator guide). Pre-booking is required at least two weeks in advance. Ask for information at educacio@museudelcinema.cat
  • Introductory audiovisual to the permanent exhibition without subtitles. The rest of the audiovisuals are silent, or with a soundtrack (musical or voice-over) not relevant to the understanding of the audiovisual.

Intellectual accessibility

  • Very visual exhibition with a multitude of audiovisuals and the possibility to touch and experiment with some replicas of the exhibited objects.
  • Possibility of guided tours and adapted pedagogical workshops. Pre-booking is required at least two weeks in advance. Ask for information at educacio@museudelcinema.cat

Babies and children

• You can leave the stroller for children at the museum lobby reception. You must ask the museum reception staff.
