Georges Méliès, the film wizard
The wizard Georges Méliès discovers the illusionistic possibilities of a means of reproduction that had been born to capture visible reality. Moving pictures will not only make it possible to learn about the world, but to create imaginary worlds as well. The cinema will come to be halfway between life and fantasy, reality and illusion, knowledge and leisure, art and industry.
