The Museum of Cinema will take part in the round table Moving image museums: European examples.

The Encontros no ANIM 2026 will take place on 20 May in Lisbon, at the facilities of the Cinemateca Portuguesa-Museu do Cinema, as part of the 30th anniversary of ANIM (Arquivo Nacional das Imagens em Movimento). The meeting will bring together researchers, curators and professionals from the sector to reflect on the history of cinema and the current challenges of film heritage in Portugal. Established as a space for debate and knowledge exchange, this year's Encontros will focus on museums of moving image collections.

The event will address key issues such as emerging conservation and exhibition models, new museological paradigms, and opportunities for collaboration between institutions. It will also discuss the role these museums should play today in the preservation and dissemination of heritage, as well as the challenges posed by collections of cinematic devices and objects in a context of technological transformation.

The Museu del Cinema will participate in the international round table

In this context, the Museu del Cinema: Tomàs Mallol Collection will take part in the round table Moving image museums: European examples. Representing the museum will be Montse Puigdevall Noguer, curator of the Museu del Cinema, who will share experiences with reference institutions such as the DFF - Deutsches Filminstitut & Filmmuseum and the Museo Nazionale del Cinema. The session will bring together European professionals to compare different models of management, conservation and dissemination of film collections.

The participation of the Museu del Cinema in this round table strengthens its international presence and its commitment to networking. At the same time, it will showcase the museum's experience in preserving and promoting film heritage, as well as help establish new collaborative links with other European institutions in the sector.
