The objective of this activity is to promote the taste for reading in young by making them experience the different phases of an audiovisual production.
A total of 370 students from 3rd and 4th ESO from the Santiago Sobrequés Institute, the Narcís Xifra Institute, the Montilivi Institute and the Marist School of Girona have participated in the twelfth edition of the educational proposal "Read, camera and. .. action!”. This year the number of participants has doubled from the previous year and thirty booktrailers have been presented. This increase is a sign of the interest this proposal arouses among secondary schools. This educational proposal is promoted by Girona City Council, through the educational services of the Girona Cinema Museum and Libraries, and has the collaboration of OCINE cinemas.
Since January, the participating students have worked to produce the audiovisual pieces and the educational centers have selected the twenty best projects, which were screened on Tuesday, June 4 at the OCINE cinemas in Girona, at the closing party of the activity
The educational proposal aims to enhance young people's taste for reading by making them experience the different stages of an audiovisual production (pre-production, production, post-production and dissemination) thanks to the prior reading of a book chosen by them. In fact, the choice of the book is the starting point of this annual project which focuses on the production of this audiovisual which ends with its presentation and public dissemination.
The book trailer based on Bodas de sangre, by Federico Garcia Lorca, made by a group of students from the Montilivi Institute, has won the prize for the best book trailer of the 2024 edition. The 2nd prize for the best production went to a group of students from the Escola Maristes de Girona with the book trailer about the book Divergente, by Veronica Roth, and the 3rd prize for the best production went to the one based on El mensaje del mal, by César Fernández, made by a group of students from the Santiago Sobrequés Institute.
The special mentions have been the award for the best screenplay for Donde aprenden a volar las gaviotas; the one for best artistic direction for El mensaje del mal, both from the Santiago Sobrequès Institute; the one for best direction for Strange and the one for best editing Someone is lying both by students from the Marist school in Girona, the one for best adaptation for Mentida, made by students from the Narcís Xifra Institute.
All participants receive a participation diploma and those who obtain a mention or prize also win discounted tickets to OCINE cinemas. The winning group will also visit the TVGirona studios, where they will be interviewed in which they can explain what the experience of bringing the book's story to the screen has been like and recommend reading it.
