Katharine Hepburn and the Modern Woman

From March 3 to June 8, 2008 – Museu del Cinema

Katharine Hepburn burst in on Hollywood in the early 1930s with her informal approach, prepared to play independent determined non-conformist women and always ready with a caustic riposte. Her slim physique distanced her from the model of the femme fatale, but it also pointed to something that did not go with submission. In her crazy comedies, life becomes a game that leads to reversing the sexual roles.
With her attitude, glimpsed in some of her characters, Hepburn was a Hollywood rebel who paid for her audacity by becoming "box-office poison". But her will to succeed led her to win the match until she was recognized in her later years as a prestigious actress. To achieve this, the beast was tamed. Even so we must associate her with the spirit of modern woman.
