One of the rarest and most exceptional lanterns from the French manufacturer of magic lanterns for family use Lapierre is this one of the episcope type. This model was used for the projection of images on an opaque support, such as postcards, photographs on paper, engravings, etc. The projection of these images was done by the light reflection system and not by the transparency system, as was usual in most lanterns. This device was also of the lampascope type, that is, it used a home-made tabletop oil lamp as a light source.
