The initiative aims to promote reading and develop young people's understanding of audiovisual storytelling through the creation of a book trailer."
A total of 306 students from the 3rd and 4th years of secondary education (ESO) took part in the thirteenth edition of the educational project "Read, Camera and... Action! Book Trailer Workshop". This initiative, which forms part of the city's Educational Resources Programme, is promoted by the Girona City Council through the educational services of the Cinema Museum and Girona Libraries, with the collaboration of OCINE cinemas.
This year, twenty-two audiovisual projects were submitted by students from eleven class groups at Institut Montilivi, Institut Ermessenda de Girona and Escola Maristes de Girona.
"Collaborative projects such as this one, promoted by the educational services of the libraries and the Cinema Museum, help foster a love of reading through audiovisual creation and new ways of looking at stories, encouraging young people to continue reading and discovering new narratives," said the Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Culture of Girona City Council, Quim Ayats i Bartrina.
This educational project takes place throughout the entire school year. Since the end of 2025, participating students have read the selected books and, with the guidance of an expert facilitator, have subsequently produced the audiovisual pieces. The best projects, selected by the participating schools, were screened yesterday, Tuesday 9 June, at OCINE cinemas in Girona during the closing event of the programme.
The initiative aims to encourage young people's interest in reading and develop their critical audiovisual thinking by allowing them to experience the different stages involved in producing a book trailer (pre-production, production, post-production and distribution), based on a book they have chosen themselves. The choice of book is the starting point of this annual project, which focuses on creating an audiovisual piece that culminates in its public presentation and dissemination.
