275 Students Take Part in the 12th Edition of “Read, Camera, Action!”

Tuesday, June 10, 2025

The goal of the initiative is to encourage young people to enjoy reading by guiding them through all stages of creating an audiovisual production.

A total of 275 students from eleven 3rd and 4th ESO classes at Institut Montilivi, Institut Narcís Xifra i Masmitjà, and Escola Maristes in Girona participated in the 12th edition of the educational project “Read, Camera, Action!”. The goal of the initiative is to encourage young people to enjoy reading by guiding them through all stages of creating an audiovisual production.

This year, students created 21 book trailers (bibliotràilers), with a noticeable improvement in quality compared to previous editions.

The project is part of Girona’s Educational Resources Program and is organized by the Girona City Council, with support from the Cinema Museum and Girona Libraries, in collaboration with OCINE cinemas.

Since January, students have read a book of their choice and, with help from a professional facilitator, created short films based on their readings. Schools selected the best trailers, which were screened last Thursday at OCINE Girona as part of the closing event.

The winning trailer, based on The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid, was made by a group from Escola Maristes. Second prize went to students from Institut Narcís Xifra for their trailer based on Stephen King’s It, and third prize to Institut Montilivi for a trailer based on Binding 13 by Chloe Walsh.

Special mentions included:

Best Adapted Screenplay: The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins (Escola Maristes)

Best Direction: A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson (Escola Maristes)

Best Art Direction: El pavelló gris by Miquel Fañanàs (Institut Montilivi)

Best Editing: And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie (Institut Montilivi)

All participants receive a diploma, while prizewinners also receive discounted cinema tickets. The winning group will also visit the TVGirona studios for an interview about their project and reading experience.

You can watch the three winning trailers on the Cinema Museum’s YouTube channel.
