Animation

Secondary school

We will explore the secrets of image animation from its origins to the present day.

Who among us hasn’t enjoyed watching an animated film at some point? This activity will allow us to discover the secrets of image animation from its origins to the present day. How did the idea of animating images come about? What was the first technique? What is the most basic principle? How did animation evolve until it reached the present day?

We will visit the Museum's galleries to see how the desire to achieve moving images is very ancient, as old as the desire to tell stories. An animated journey from Chinese shadows, magic lantern slides, the first animated drawings to the projection with the Nic cinema.

In the workshop, we will experience giving movement to a still image, and the students will create their own animation using the stop motion technique.
