Activity to discover the relationship that exists, and has always existed, between music and cinema

In this activity, you will listen to music and view selected film images to learn about the characteristics, techniques, and different combinations of movie music. You will discover what mickey mousing, leitmotif, or audiovisual counterpoint are, or in other words, how music can accompany an image, a character, or a specific situation, or, conversely, how it can alter its meaning.

You will play a game to guess the role of the different instruments in an orchestra for describing images, and to recognize the music that accompanies the characters by listening carefully.

To complement the workshop, we offer a visit to the permanent exhibition where you can verify that the relationship between music and image is as old as humanity itself.

Objectives

- Appreciate the influence of music through identifying the musical and extramusical aspects present in cinematic music creation.
- Recognize the different combinations, characteristics, and techniques of musical language.
- Show interest in understanding the past in order to appreciate the present.
- Adopt an attitude of respect towards the exhibition material and the tools used during the workshop.
