Infant school
This activity will allow participants to explore different ways of storytelling through images over time and learn how image animation is achieved.
We will explore some of the devices and visual spectacles that made the invention of cinema possible. The focus will be on their narrative function, and we will experiment with the principles that bring images to life using optical toys.
The activity has three different parts: in the first, students will enter the magical and mysterious world of shadow play through the storytelling of a traditional tale. The second part includes a visit to the museum’s permanent exhibition, where children will discover different ways of representing stories through movement. Finally, in the workshop, students will create one of the most famous optical toys—the thaumatrope.
