Ramayana Shadow Play

Primary school (ages 6 - 8)

Classroom Activity. The shadows of the Middle East come with the stories of the Ramayana. We watch a shadow play and create our own puppets.

We get to know one of the most popular legends of Eastern shadow plays. Adventures of heroes who will overcome the challenges they face and fight monsters to achieve their goals.

We will experiment with the properties of light in the performance using the figures we create of these characters representing the battle of good versus evil.

Objectives

- Learn about the technique of shadow theatre performance.
- Discover the properties of light on the figures used in the representations.
- Recognize specific shapes from shadows.
- Listen to legends from other countries and compare them with our own stories.
- Create our own Ramayana character.
- Understand the relationship between shadow plays and cinema.
- Learn to value, respect, and understand the importance of preserving heritage.

1 hour (workshop).

Price

70 EUR per class group + educator's travel expenses to the educational center.

Additional Information

More than one workshop can be held in a day. Activities are clasroom groups.
