Tricks and Special Effects: The Magic of Early Cinema

With Segundo de Chomón, one of the pioneers of cinema, we will play with the magic of special effects and create an animated sequence

This activity aims to bring students closer to the cinematographic legacy of Segundo de Chomón, a pioneer of Catalan and Spanish silent cinema and a master of cinematic special effects.

Objectives:
- Learn about the figure and cinema of Segundo de Chomón.
- Relate the work and techniques of Segundo de Chomón with the museographic discourse of the museum's permanent exhibition: Chinese shadows, magic lantern, optical toys.
- Discover different forms of special effects and create simple special effects.
- Realize that the image seen on the screen is fiction and can be more or less easily manipulated.
- Familiarize with silent cinema and its narrative resources, which are very different from modern cinema.
- Appreciate well-done teamwork.
- Understand the animation procedure of images.
- Learn about some of the various tasks involved in the making of a film shoot.

Activity aimed at children aged 10 to 12 years.

Duration: 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Price: Price: 4.25 EUR per child (groups of more than 17 students) or 75 EUR/group (groups of 17 students or fewer).
Observations: Groups of a maximum of 26 children. This activity can be complemented with a guided or free visit to the permanent exhibition of the museum.
