The first camera and projector of the 16 mm film format. Since 1914, Kodak had been researching with materials and techniques to manufacture cinema cameras and projectors for the emerging amateur film market. The research focused on finding a film of reduced format, safe (non-flammable) and of good quality. The result was a 16 mm film, which went on sale in July 1923, along with the Cine-Kodak model A camera, with a tripod, a film splicer and a screen. Kodascope is the name given to the 16 mm projector, equipped with an electric motor, which was marketed in the same year. The Cine-Kodak model A and the Kodascope were sold together, as part of this first amateur 16 mm film equipment. However, by 1924, the Victor Animatograph Corporation and Bell and Howell companies had placed 16 mm projectors on the market, so Kodak removed the requirement to buy the complete kit and began selling the projector separately.
