Prototype of an amateur film camera made by the Pathé Cinéma company. Since 1912, the company Pathé Cinéma had been trying to produce a non-professional camera and film projector, which was easy to use, not expensive and without danger for the user. He tried, with little success, with the model Pathé Kok and later with the Pathéorama. Finally, in Christmas 1922, the company launched the Pathé Baby projector and, due to its success, in April 1923, put the camera on sale. It was the first amateur film camera and the smallest manufactured until then. This prototype was the outcome of the tests that were carried out for the Pathé Baby camera before mass production in Victor Continsouza's workshops.
