Luxury viewer for photographs, it has two lens systems, one is for viewing stereoscopic images and the other is a fifteen-centimetre diameter magnifying lens for business card type photographs. This second lens, on a par with 18th century zograscopes with optical sights, increased the sense of depth in the photograph. The viewfinder are adjustable in height and the whole device folds away for easy storage. The photo holder slides back and forth for precise image focus. On this stand is a frosted screen, which allows the backlighting of translucent stereoscopic photographs. This graphoscope is a model based on Charles John Rowsell's unfinished 1864 patent; since no one completed it, anyone was free to copy the design.
