Dubroni were the first cameras to allow photographic plates to be sensitised, exposed, developed and fixed within the body of the camera itself, by inserting the appropriate chemicals through a funnel and rubber tube. Inside the camera there is a glass or ceramic receptacle to contain the chemicals that were fed into it. This camera took four-centimetre-diameter photographs on five-centimetre square wet collodion plates. It was supplied in a box that included all the materials and products needed to process the image. The Dubroni was quite popular in Europe for the convenience and simplicity it offered. The name Dubroni is an anagram of the surname of the author of the camera patent: Jules Bourdin.
