Glass slide for a chromatrope-type magic lantern. This type of glass slide was invented around 1841 by the English painter and lanternist Henry Langdon Childe. It is a combination of two glasses painted with different colours and geometric shapes, which rotate in opposite directions by means of a handle and produce a very evocative and famous chromatic effect at the time, similar to that of a kaleidoscope.
