Glass slides for a magic lantern with moving image. Projections of the magic lantern also offered moving images, although it was still very primitive, simple and repetitive. The effect of the moving image was usually achieved by combining two or more glass slides on the same chassis and moving at least one of these slides using a handle and cogwheel, levers, pulleys or manually sliding one glass over the other. Generally, the theme of this type of slides was comical, although we also find it on some slides for phantasmagoria shows or for educational uses.
