Since its inception, the Museum of Cinema has received various awards in recognition of its ongoing work. The most important are the following:
Runner-up in the European Museum Award, 1999.
(Museum of the Year Prize), held in Bonn, Germany.
González Sinde Prize, 2003.
Awarded by the Spanish Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. This prize acknowledges the work of the institutions or bodies that have distinguished themselves through the use of film for social purposes.
- Cultural Heritage National Prize, 2006.
Awarded by the Catalan Government "as the culmination of a recovery of the film heritage, begun by Tomās Mallol with his private collection, to which the museum gives extraordinary vitality by making it available to all."
ACAT Prize, 2008
Associaciķ Cinematogrāfica i Audiovisual Tramontana (Figueres)
Faristol Prize, 2008
Awarded by the children's magazine Faristol. Given to the Museum of Cinema "for all its children's activities".
Marta Mata Award, 2010
Awarded by the Rosa Sensat Schoolteachers' Association "in honour of a museum that encourages learning and specialized knowledge in the art and technique of the cinema and the science of the image by means of a rigorous and attractive museum presentation thanks to the nature of the installations and the educational initiatives addressed to children and young people".
